SATURDAY, TIRAMISÚ

Last Saturday my mother made this dessert: tiramisu. Tiramisu is a typical Italian dessert. It’s sweet with a little coffee flavor.

I leave you the recipe!

What you need:

150 g sugar
3 egg yolks
3 tubs of Mascarpone cream cheese
soft biscuits

How to do it:

Put a layer of biscuits on the bottom of the tray, wet them with a mixture of coffee reduced with water.
In a separate bowl, mix the egg yolks, sugar and mascarpone.
Cover the biscuits with a layer of this mixture.
Also add on another layer of biscuits, and repeat… 'til you want! Depending on the depth of the mold you can make up to two or three layers of biscuits and mixture.
At the top should be a mixed layer on which you must sprinkle cocoa or chocolate dust. Cover well with plastic wrap and leave in the refrigerator until the next day. You can eat it at the moment, but the next day will be better because the coffee has soaked biscuits and the mixture is well mixed.

Enjoy!!

KIDS CAKE

Last weekend we made a cake for my nephews. I wanted the kids to participate actively in it. We use a special mold, shaped medieval castle, as you can see in the photos. I bought it online on Ebay for 15 euros with postage included. Once the cake was made,  the children began to decorate it.

Everyone had a homemade pastry bag with chocolate. I already knew that it wouldn’t be a cake too aesthetically appealing, but for me it was more important that they enjoy, and of course they did!

After that, they covered the cake with colored chocolate pills. Finally, they placed the custom flags that I did a few days before. The flags were done with different drawings, and there were a few with their own photos, decorated with fun draws.

For sure they enjoyed the game and we did it too!

See you soon!

THE TRADITONAL CATALAN EASTER CAKE

In our country it's a tradition to eat a special cake the first Monday after Easter, "la Mona". It has different versions, but the traditional one is a cake covered with a mixture of sugar and butter and crystallized fruits. Ah! And a chocolate egg on top.

I let you the photos of “la Mona” that my family did this Easter.

See you!

BANANA AND CHOCOLATE CAKE

Lately I've been thinking of doing some changes in my eating habits. I love cakes but when I'm craving for something sweet, I just go and buy some industrial bakery.  Last week I decided to stop buying this and bake my own cakes.

The first recipe was Marina's Yogurt cake with apple and walnuts, it's delicious!! You can find the recipe here.
This week I've changed a little  the original recipe and instead of apples and walnuts, I've tried with chocolate and banana.

Needed:

1 yogurt
1 yogurt size of brown sugar (if you like it sweeter, add another size)
2 yogurt sizes of wheat flour and 1 yogurt size of rye flour (I like to mix types of flour, but  you can use all wheat flour if you prefer)

1 yogurt size of cocoa powder
½ yogurt size of olive oil
3 eggs
16 g of baking soda
1 or 2 bananas
100g of  chocolate drops

Mix the yogurt, oil, eggs, sugar, flour, cocoa and baking soda in a bowl until it becomes a smooth paste with very little bubbles.

Add  1/2 of the mix in a lined pan. Take the bananas, peel them and cut them into very fine slices. Spread them into the bowl until it is all covered and throw the rest of the mix.
Cover with chocolate drops  and sprinkle with sugar.
Bake at 338 ºF until it is cooked.
Allow to cool for a few minutes and it’s ready to serve.

And remember,  how to know if dough is cooked? Just stuck a long stick in the dough. If the stick is dry when you remove it, it's done.
For this recipe you can leave the dough in the oven about 40 minutes, but it all depends on the depth of the mold.

Enjoy it!
