It's been a nice weekend around here. Weather is been a little crazy, with cold wind and sun. We had the first lunch outside in the sunlight, some friends came to visit and we ate a lot. A lot. Like these homemade cupcakes I made with Silvia, just delicious!

On March 24 I went to Barcelona's
opera house, the Gran Teatre del Liceu, was founded on the Rambla in 1847 and
has continued over the years to fulfil its role as a culture and arts centre
and one of the symbols of the city.
We went to see Madama
Butterfly, one of the most beautiful creations of Puccini. Albert gave me the
tickets as a present for our first wedding anniversary, it was really exciting. It's difficult
to describe the feeling you have when you hear those voices, so powerful.
Oh, don’t be afraid to go
to the opera if you don’t understand Italian language, because each seat on the
Liceu has a small screen where the subtitles appear in real time.
Madama Butterfly (Milan,
1904) tells the harrowing tale of Butterfly (Cio-Cio-San), a geisha in
Nagasaki, who trusts blindly in the love of a cynical American naval officer,
Pinkerton. But after marrying her under a Japanese law that allows the wife to
be repudiated, Pinkerton goes home to America. When Butterfly discovers that
the man she loves has come back with his American wife and wants to take charge
of the son she bore him after his departure, she puts an end to her western
dream and commitshara-kiri. The focus is on Butterfly -- her admirable
capacity for love and her delicacy -- while the music , with its touches of
refined exoticism, suits her fragile and sensitive character to a tee.

It's been a long weekend for me. We've been on the road, visiting family and friends. Now I'm home, is raining outside and I have the whole week for me (I'm on vacations). Life is great. And this song is perfect.

Yeah! Kings of Convenience, Fanfarlo and, especially, Dry the River! An ecofriendly music festival in Barcelona, this summer and only 35 euros, yuhuu!! Guess who has tickets ;-P If you don't know any of these bands, we talked about Kings of Convenience here, and about Dry The River here and here, so today I want two share with you two songs from two bands that I love and that are coming to the festival too. Today I want to share with you two of my latest findings. They both sing in english, but they both are from Barcelona, and these songs remind me of the 90's (something of Pearl Jam, Counting Crows or Duncan Sheik). Do I need to say anything else?

Last weekend was for meeting good friends, walk through the city (I went to Barcelona) and relax! So forgive me if today I take a break with all the melancholic music... Spring is coming and I want to dance!
