JUST THE WAY THEY ARE

You just have to watch these two videos to think, as I do, that children are totally transparent. The first video is recorded by ExperimetoComparte, a project of Action against Hunger (a nonprofit organization) who wants to show us children sharing food in a spontaneous and uninhibited way. This attempt to convey the idea that the food on the planet can feed the entire population, but unfortunately there are many people and many innocent children who die for hunger every day. So sharing is  a good philosophy.

The second video is funny as well as interesting. It's an experiment done with quite young children. Teacher gives them a candy and leaves them alone in a room. Teacher tells them to wait a little while she comes back with another candy. They can eat this one,  but if they wait, they'll have two.
They have nice and spontaneous reactions! What a long wait! Those of you who have children with this age ... what do you think they would do?

Finally, a funny video of a baby trying to stay awake while his eyes are closing...

MOVIES FOR KIDS (OR NOT!)

I love kids movies, especially the creepy ones, with monsters, dark sceneries like "Coraline" or "Lemony Snicket's A Series of Unfortunate Events". That's why I'm so excited to see "ParaNorman" (from the makers of Coraline) this August!

Kids, Zombies, Ghosts, so cool!

Another kids movie with monsters and ghosts is "Hotel Transylvania".

I'm not so excited about this one, I guess I'll wait to watch it at home, but sure I'll give it a chance...

An another movie, this one with real actors. Disney is preparing a new movie about the magic world of Oz,  "Oz The Great and Powerful".

Great, right? Anyways, to me, the best movie about Oz it will always be Return to Oz (1985), totally a not-for-kids movie, really creepy...

And the last one, "Brave". Just because some say I look like her ;-P
Has anyone seen it?

XOXO

LET’S PLAY!

Many of us are lucky because we have children around. It's great to see how they grow up and how life looks from their perspective. They are so amazing!

While I was looking on the Internet I found a very simple game that I think would be fun for children. This is an adhesive tape with the picture of a road. Just stick the tape making the circuit  and then run over cars. It is a different and original way to have a racing circuit.

You can find it here.

I let you a photo of another original game to play with children. You will only need Washi Tape, cardboard boxes and lots of imagination!

KIDS CAKE

Last weekend we made a cake for my nephews. I wanted the kids to participate actively in it. We use a special mold, shaped medieval castle, as you can see in the photos. I bought it online on Ebay for 15 euros with postage included. Once the cake was made,  the children began to decorate it.

Everyone had a homemade pastry bag with chocolate. I already knew that it wouldn’t be a cake too aesthetically appealing, but for me it was more important that they enjoy, and of course they did!

After that, they covered the cake with colored chocolate pills. Finally, they placed the custom flags that I did a few days before. The flags were done with different drawings, and there were a few with their own photos, decorated with fun draws.

For sure they enjoyed the game and we did it too!

L'EQUIP PETIT (THE SMALL TEAM)

A few months ago I stumbled upon this video and I loved for its simplicity,  sweetness and originality.  A young soccer team that never scores a goal, but they never give up. Once again, the little ones give us a lesson, I love it!

They  speak in Catalan (our language) but there are English subtitles.
Hope you like it!

A PRESENT FOR ONA

Last week Ona was born! Their parents, Cris and Oriol, are close friends to us. We were very excited to meet her,  so yesterday  we went to the hospital . The whole family is very happy.
Ona is  a beautiful baby; like a little doll, so fragile... She was sleeping when we arrived to the hospital,  but her parents told us that she had been crying all night long! They didn’t know what to do and the nurse didn’t too! Luckily,  she finally calmed.
Ona means wave in català (our language) ;p

We bring a little gift to Ona and her parents, and i wanted it  to look special.
Today I’ll explain you what I did to wrap the gift.

This is the result of the process,  very professional!

I used brown wrapping paper, the kind of paper that is used to wrap packaging boxes, and fuchsia tempera. The tempera colour has to be intense or it’s possible that doesn’t cover the brown color of the packaging paper. With a thin brush i wrote the name of the baby: Ona Ona Ona Ona...It’s an original way to make a gift wrapping paper, very personalized, don’t you think? Then you have to wait until the tempera is dry.

Next, you can start to wrap the gift.

With another piece of paper I did a little bag to wrap the little pink bear that you can see in the picture. This bear makes a funny sound when you push it, it’s soft and so sweet...

And finally, I did a loop with a fuchsia string. The string was consistent and not elastic.

And that’s all folks! I think the result is cool, and Ona seemed very happy!
You can mix different colours, be creative!!

See you soon!
